How I See The Future
Booker T. Washington had a specific view of the future. He saw the future as a place where all men were treated equal, that the race wouldn’t matter, but the character and the responsibility with which everyone fulfilled daily tasks. Booker was one of the first African Americans to be made part of the high social classes, but he thought that in the future all black men would be able to have the opportunity he had. Booker Washington called his view of the future “a new heaven and a new earth”. I believe that what Mr. Washington expected of the future in accordance to the equal treatment of people, in the United States of America can already be done, maybe not to the fullness of what he expected but it can be done a whole lot easier than what would have been 20 to 30 years after Washington. However, “a new heaven and a new earth” is something entirely different.
Jesus is the continuous present. Jesus is the Great I Am. If I viewed the future the way Booker T. Washington viewed the future, I’d be completely ignoring what Jesus came to do when he became flesh. Let me explain that you may understand my view of the future and my view in general.
As the letter to the Ephesians says in chapter one verses nine and ten, “Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he had purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him”.
Jesus’ coming in flesh was the dispensation of the fullness of times, for he is the Eternal One, eternity is in Him. When He became flesh He came to bring the eternity to earth, He came to bring the Kingdom of God. Eternity practically means that there is no time, there is no past and there is no future, there is only now, there is only Jesus. So, if the fullness of times was when The Eternity came to the earth that means that heaven and earth have been already united IN Jesus Christ. One may ask themselves, “How can that be possible, if I only see horror and destruction on earth?” That is why I capitalized the “in”, because if we are to experience a new heaven and a new earth we have to be IN Jesus, IN the Kingdom of God, IN eternity.
You see chapter one in verse three of the Gospel of John says, “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” All things have been already made by Him since the beginning. God has already done all things, all that we hope for, all that we want to happen, all life, everything, even before you came to earth, you already existed IN God.
That is just it; we have to manifest to earth what has already been done in the eternity by the entering IN Jesus through our faith IN Him. A human before he comes to earth already exists in eternity, in God. However, an action has to be done by a man and a woman to bring that human being to earth or “manifest it”. Faith without deeds and without manifestation is not really faith. Look at the next scripture from James chapter 2 verses 17 to 22. “Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. Yes, a man may say, I have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But will you know, Oh vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? See how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?”
This is why Jesus sent the Spirit of God, “the Holy Spirit”, because as Romans chapter 1 verse 4 says, “And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.” Jesus was declared Son of God with power by the Holy Spirit in Him, and he sent His Spirit, that those who become sensible and obedient to His voice may become also sons of God with power, the power of God.
Therefore, I say that all that we hope for has already been done in Jesus. That the manifestation of the wonderful things that we are waiting for, you find it when you enter Jesus, the Eternal One, the Continuous Present, The Great I Am, the one who made the heavens and the earth one IN Him. The past and the future do not exist; there is only the now in Jesus. This is how I see the “future”.
Author’s Note: Jesus said, “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. ‘Repent’ means to change the way you think, what governs you naturally affects the way you think. The Kingdom of God is not easily understood, therefore we have to change the way we think that we may be fully governed by it.
